Alright, I'm trying to get a better handle on drawing manga and what better way to teach yourself then to look at mangas you love and try and give it a shot yourself?
Sorry about the title being so crappy and all, just that I don't know what to call these lil pages. Mmm... ok, these next 8-10ish pages are based off a Rurouni Kenshin fanfic I'm reading called "The Courtship of Lady Tokio"( [link] ) by one Misaki Toyodome. It's one well thought out and beautifuly written fic. and pretty long... very long (not for the faint of heart). I'm so mezmorised by the way story is going, you can tell that the author put a LOT of time and effort into what she's writting and even took the time to look historical facts up.
Anywho, back to ranting about me ^_^
Like I said, I'm giving manga-style art a shot and am practicing... just messing around to get the hang of it. It's pretty fun, even if it take forever to ink a single page. I think I've got the basics down and just need to work in more angles and stuff like that into it. Unfortunately, this perticular segmant doesn't call for anything too dramatic... just two guys hanging out on roof tops and spying on nobility. The tones (if thats what you'd like to call them) are just me messing around with simple features in Photoshop and getting a fee for that as well. What do you guys think I need to fix up/ improve? Don't be shy, tear me to shreads with your thoughts... thats one of the best ways I'll know what to work on. Oh, yes... this is read English wise... panels & bubbles...
Hmm, I like this, it looks very nice! The first large panel looks a little bit confusing (is that a roof she's sitting on?) Also, the face at the bottom left looks a little...odd? It's barely noticeable though. I'm not sure if this is being read left to right, or right to left, it sort of makes it confusing...though I suppose it's read left to right. (Ick, not thinking well at the moment)
I like your style, and how you toned this page, you can feel the coldness! (Brr....)
Very nice!

LOL... Okita Souji is a boy, not a girl. But fear not, I assure you that theres been a ton of people who've confused him for a girl (I was one of them when I first watched the series). As for the way it's read, its in standard English... maybe I should try my hand at something that looks more manga by making it truely Japanese, hu?

I think it's just me, I was just reading a whole pile of Japanese manga, so my brain was a bit muddled
